Blake-isms

Blake has been into the iPad again lately, doing puzzles or playing her music on the iPod...

Last night, we were watching the VMAs, and while watching one performer, she asked her dad "is that Justin Bieder?" (Meaning Bieber...) He responds by saying "you've got to be kidding me!" And comes to tell me what happened as I was in the next room. Can't believe a 2 year old knows who he is!!

We are deep in the questioning period these days... everything is why? When? Where? Who's that? Over and over... and over! I'm just making up responses at this point. Ha!

She likes to play feed her dolls rice cereal, which is a nice change from play breastfeeding them! Also Blake wants rice cereal, puffs and whatever other baby foods I feed Easton.

Blake is out of third person talking now, but says "my" for "I" most of the time. She pretty much has "me" down.

She asks to go to school all the time!

Catching Up

This past week has kept us busy around here. Easton has been teething... he currently has 2 teeth, both bottom middle teeth! Apparently whatever hard thing that is coming in on the side may or may not be a tooth, only time will tell! ha ha. So he is in a major mama-lovin' mood lately. He doesn't like me out of his sight and would prefer to be with me at all times!

I also had the bright idea to throw together a garage sale. I have been trying to weed out our junk to create a nicer space around here, so on Tuesday I decided the garage sale would be on Friday. I did it! Big thanks to Grandma and Papa for helping with the kiddos while I sold and made $313.50!! Not bad! (lots of work though, getting ready for a sale! whew)
This cool table is an idea I saw on Pinterest, and loved! Thankfully, Tim understands my craziness and desire to copy-cat DIY projects and he loved it too! So here's what we did this weekend... today really.
Tim found some nice pallets home from work,
we both stained them,
put them on casters connected by 4x4s, filled in the spaces with more slats, and viola!
We love the way it turned-out and can't wait to relax by our cool new/old furniture! We wanted the rustic look...

Job Requirements

Well yesterday was the first day of school and was the first time in 5 years that I haven't been in the classroom starting my year. It felt a little weird not being there, but I have to say that this is the best job I've ever had.

Easton was a little "needy" as I call it (just needed extra attention from mama after his shots) and Blake hardly napped at all. So we all cuddled up and watched The Little Mermaid. Can you think of a better place to be?!?

6 Month Check-Up

Easton had his 6 month appt today. He was in a great mood until his 3 shots! He is 27.5 inches long (85th%) and weighs 18 lbs 3 ounces (60th%) with a 44 cm head. Dr. B called him tall and trim, and was pleased with everything about our healthy boy. I was surprised his weight wasn't a higher percentile, because he has such chunky legs! Thank God for healthy kiddos!

Beauty Shop

Before:
Friday afternoon Blake and I had appointments to have our hair done. My appt was for a much-needed color fix and long-overdue haircut, and we decided to go ahead and have Blake's hair professionally cut for the first time. She was looking forward all week to going to "the beauty shop."
She did great sitting in my lap letting Debbie cut her hair. Blake had been telling us she wanting her hair cut "to shoulder" and she would pat her shoulders! So we did (it's a little shorter than shoulder-length) and I love it! She's been asking everyone "is my hair pretty?" making sure she gets lots of compliments!
I'm glad we cut it though, because she hasn't been as sweaty waking up from naps and playing outside!

My mom came to help with Easton since Tim was working, and both kids did great despite being there for almost 2 hours!!

Pillows

We all know I could hardly wait to get my pillows finished for the couches! I just finished the last one after breakfast, and here they are.
Two plain blue, two floral blue!
The fabric is way prettier than it looks in these pictures! A new camera is definitely on the wish list...

More Teeth

Easton has two teeth cutting through. I was surprised when I felt in his mouth to check on the first tooth and felt another! Tooth #2 is the middle left tooth on the bottom.

Growing Up

Our old living room furniture had bitten the dust... so the time had come for some new stuff! I love our new sectional (it's grey, despite whatever color the picture makes it look like!) and our new blue ottoman!I've been describing it like I feel grown-up with it. I feel like our old stuff looked like a college-y house, which is fine!! but I want to look more grown-up. I love it all! Big thanks to Tim for working so hard for us so we can have nice things.
My next project is to cover the pillows from the old couch to match this one. We found cute napkins at Target, so I'll post those pictures when I'm finished making the pillow covers.

Cuteness

Blake is amazing. She is turning into quite the little girl! She talks up a storm at home (very shy around others), and is saying some funny things! Blake will come up to Tim or me and say "what you need, mama? (or daddy, depending on who it is) She wants us to tell her something we need from the store. She'll take her shopping cart sometimes, or just walk herself to the garage and come right back and ask it again.

Blake loves to lay in the pack 'n play or Easton's crib with him. She likes to do whatever he does. Since he's been teething this past week, I was explaining to her that he didn't feel good because his new tooth was growing in... she had a tooth coming in too that hurt her too. Also, one night Tim was sore from working out, and Blake's back hurt too... "my back is sore, Mama." She cracks me up as she tells me all these things in all seriousness!
Another popular phrase, is "show me how." One of her favorites is Tim's iPod. She likes to put one ear piece by her ear and listen to the music. She brings it up to me all the time and tells me to "show me how" because she wants it on. Or "show me how" to swing her golf club, she likes us to stand behind her and show her how to swing. Or in the top picture, "show me how" to put the sunglasses on.

Six Months

Happy Half-Birthday Easton! Time really flies with the 2nd child... Slow down life! My sweet good-natured little boy is 6 months old! He weighs 18 pounds and is in 9 month clothing. He can army-crawl and scoot anywhere he wants to go, and rocks back and forth on his hands and knees. He loves grabbing things, especially his feet, any toy of Blake's as she plays nearby, long hair, blowing raspberries, and kicking his legs. Easton will look at people, catch their eye and give them the biggest smile... Easton has one tooth poked through so far.

"Hey Mama! Cheese!"
"Pththththlllltt....""Got my toes!""Hey Blake, look, I got my toes!"Easton is doing pretty well eating solids. He doesn't just gobble it down, but we get the job done. and because Blake always wants a picture with "my boy" (that's what she calls him these days, never his name).
His 6 month check-up is next week, we'll see his stats then.

Brother and Sister

Usually, it's like this:
all hugs and kisses and my heart melts because she's holding his hand just because...

and then I'll look back and she's throwing crackers all over him on the other side of their stroller or throwing his toys across the room so they are no longer within his reach! Oh, siblings!

Teeth

Before I forget... Easton's first tooth made its appearance the other day, probably Tuesday. Poor baby has been cranky and a little needy this week!

The tooth came in on the bottom right side, but it's not the middle tooth, it's the next one over. Weird.

Hot Summer Nights

With all of the 100+ degree days, we try to get out on family walks or just play in the yard in the evenings (it's usually still hot, but oh well). I go on walks every morning with both kiddos, but it's nice when Daddy gets to play too!
*golfing (notice how Blake swings her club!)

Face Time

It is very hard to change a certain little boy's diaper these days as he is extra wiggly! Easton rolls, wiggles and grabs for anything nearby his changing table.
He now loves to roll over and talk to the handsome little boy in the mirror!

Horses and Cowboys

Blake loves to ride horses, and my parents saddled up the horses on Saturday so Tim's parents could see her in action! I asked her which horse she was going to ride, to which she replied "my horse, Mama."

Blake has been dying to get her "boots and jeans and hat" as she has been telling us over and over. When my parents returned from Houston, they took Blake shopping for just that. Here she is in her new pink boots, pink trimmed cowboy hat, shirt and jeans.Easton is the same age right now that Blake was when my parents starting keeping her while I worked. They started gradually taking her around the horses, then petting them, then sitting on them, and eventually loving to ride them!
Maybe he'll love to ride too!

And just because he's so cute...

Pat-a-Cake

Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker's man, bake me a cake as fast as you can!
Blake loves to help with anything, and I knew she would love to make the cake (really German Chocolate Brownies) for her daddy's 29th birthday! She also loved helping him blow out his candles. My mom always made helping in the kitchen more fun for me by having a special apron for me to wear, and my friends when they would come over. Thanks Laura for continuing the tradition and giving Blake her special apron!
