Scooter

My baby is getting too big! Everybody tells me that the 2nd baby does everything faster, but man! I didn't want to believe it. Easton is already pulling his knees under him and scooting. Of course, it's mostly in reverse, but he's scooting. As soon as his arms are strong enough, he'll be crawling! What a cutie! And of course, the little mama stepped in because she had to help him. "I'll help him mama. Help Easton!"

Socks

Blake decided she needed her comfy pants (sweat shorts) on and socks! One sock is Santa and the other is an athletic sock with a purple stripe. Not to mention that it's been over 100 for 14 days in a row... but why not!?

4 Month Check-Up

Easton was a happy camper (as usual) at the doctor's this morning. He was very sociable with both the nurse and Dr. B, and only cried for a second when he received his shots. Today was 2 shots and 1 oral immunization. Easton weighs 16 pounds, which puts him at the 74th percentile for weight, and is 26 inches long, which puts him at the 85th percentile for height. I feel like he is a big boy, but I guess I really feel that way because all I have to compare him to is his sister, and you can't really compare boys to girls. He was described as very healthy. Dr. B recommended starting solids so I guess we will be doing that!

Bathroom Reveal

Inspiration!
Ok, so keeping in mind that we started out with this:
a custom 1961 bathroom with 4 inch white-ish tile galore! Tile was on the walls, counter tops, everywhere!
We had already put in new tile floors when we moved in. So now the other place the tile is left is in the bathtub surround, which looks fine. I am so happy with the result!
We have a little touching up to do, but what an improvement!

Four Months Old

Our wonderful little man is 4 months old now. He is growing so fast and getting so strong. Easton wants to sit up so badly and really dislikes laying back (especially in the bathtub!). He would rather be propped up and can lean forward on his own when you try to recline him backwards.
Easton can roll over both ways (tummy to back, and back to tummy as of a couple days ago)! He scoots and wiggles all over the place when you lay him down, on his front or back, he's never in the same place for long!
He is happiest being with people. Easton is very content just to sit with you. What an awful thing to have to do to hold this cutie! Twist my arm!!

We'll go to his check-up next week, so I'll find out stats on our chunky monkey then!

Blake-isms

Just some things I want to remember!
  • Blake refers to herself in 3rd person. "Blakey wants to go." "Blakey needs to potty." and even for questions asking me if it's okay: "Blakey wants an orange?" I hear statements and questions like these many, many times a day!
  • Something else I hear a bajillion times a day.... is "what are you doing?" (emphasis on the doing : sounds like doooo-ing)
  • Tells Daddy not to sing, that only Mama is a good singer (which I wonder when the day will come when she tells me not to either, because we all know I can't sing well either!)

Jumping Party

On Saturday, we went to a birthday party for a friend's son Jerimiah. We had been talking to Blake about it and when she hears the word party, her first association is cake! I assured her there would be a birthday cake. She knew we would be jumping and that it was a party for "Jeriminah".
The party was held at Jumping Party, and I was excited to see how Blake would do there. There were lots of big kids there attending other parties, and Blake did not like getting bounced around by them. We spent most of the time playing in the Toddler Room where everything was a much smaller scale.
Then Tim helped her go through the obstacle course on the smallest of the big toys. She was very cautious, as usual... but did great!
She loved the slides the best! She would say "again, again!" and even climbed to the top of the slide by herself one time and decided to go down on her belly.
Easton just hung out (literally) as I decided it would be better to wear him in the carrier. I wonder what he thought of all the kids and laughing and everything going on!Excuse the blurry pictures....

Bathroom Re-do

My wonderful MIL Tina is to blame for getting me hooked on HGTV. I love it! And I love, love, love having projects to do... so Tim and I decided to remodel our 2 bathrooms and kitchen countertops. These will be done very slowly as we save up for them, but for now we are tackling the guest bathroom. Our inspiration is this:
Stay tuned to see how it turns out! Wish us luck.

Two Peas in a Pod

I'm blessed with 2 kids that love each other. I get asked all the time how Blake is handling a new sibling... and it has been a really easy transition. She loves helping me with her brother and he loves her - you can see the adoration they have for each other when they play together!

Frisco Weekend

Life has been very busy lately... in other words I haven't blogged lately because: we've been out of town 3 of the past 4 weekends, and it takes me awhile to settle back in (unpack, do all laundry, etc.) Yesterday I went and closed my classroom up for the last time (til who knows when?!) I officially am not teaching in the fall! So lots of free time right?? Uh, no! I think I'm busier now being a stay-at-home mom than a working mom because now I am actually making sure all housework is done regularly.
Anyway, 2 weekends ago, Tim's parents hosted a barbecue on Saturday for their family and friends to meet Easton. He was showered with love, attention, and lots of presents!
On Friday, we went to Babe's for lunch and to see Tina's coworkers (for them to see Blake and Easton!) and spent the afternoon splashing in the backyard when it wasn't raining.
It cleared up for Saturday and we had a great time visiting with everyone!
Blake and Easton with Tim's grandparents, Big Daddy and Mammy
Aren't they cute?!?!
Lots of people joked that this little boy was going to get lots of attention when we went... he did, and he loved it!
There is lots of love in our families! Thank you to everyone who came to talk and eat with us and to love our 2 little ones.
