Blake and Hazel were shakin' their groove thing to Hot Chelle Rae on Live with Kelly this morning! We had to listen to the song several times so they could keep dancing.

Early Present

Tim and I usually buy a big present for the both of us these days... anniversaries, Christmas, Valentine's... anyway, we just got our Christmas present a little early so we have it to enjoy for the holidays!
We always wanted a square, counter-height table and I wanted a table big enough to seat more than just us 4. As we were walking through Sam's the other day, we found this table which is exactly what we wanted! It seats 8 with the leaf, and 6 without the leaf (which stores in the table!! love it) Merry Christmas!

9 month check~up

Easton went to Dr. B's this morning for his well check. He weighed in at 20 lbs 5 ounces (75th percentile) and is 29 inches long (45th percentile). He said Easton was tall and trim, but it seems more like a little guy's stats. We'll see! He was very pleased with development and his appearance, said everything was great. Easton does have an ear infection and appears to be getting over an infection in the other ear. My tough guy didn't even act bad... but I guess that explains his attachment to me and waking up more at night lately! No shots today!

9 Months

Bad mom alert... I got my days off and thought today was the 14th, so I missed posting on the 15th! Anyway, Easton's 9 month "birthday" was Tuesday, and I can't believe how fast time is flying.
Easton is so busy, so fast, and so curious. He would hardly sit in the chair for pictures. My little boy loves to stand, open things up and pull everything out, bang on things, throw things, give slobbery kisses, pull all of Blake's bows off her bow holder and otherwise terrorize his sister (ha ha.... she doesn't like him in her stuff, get used to it sister!).
He made a big step yesterday by being able to place his feet on the floor to stand up rather than pushing up from the tops of his feet. Thankfully, he still isn't standing on his own. Easton is a fast crawler! I hope he continues to crawl as long as possible.
His new thing is opening drawers, and pulling back on them over and over.
9 month appt is next week, so check back for his stats. We're off to Frisco for Kane's wedding today...

Creating a Mom Cave

In all actuality... closet not cave! But mom cave sounds better. This project came about because I was tired of living like this:
The computer desk stayed a mess due to the fact that there was virtually no storage anywhere near it. Also, anytime I was in the middle of another crafty project, I moved my stuff from the kitchen table where I was working to the desk to be out of the way. Hated it! Besides I think the 10 years I've had that desk (from college) is long enough!

After being totally inspired by this desk I just knew I could do something similar! Big thanks to my understanding husband who lets me tackle crazy things like this, and to my dad for his power tools! So I ripped apart my husband's two closets (isn't he great!?) and condensed him to one, moving the single rods from both closets into the second closet making it a double rod closet! Still has two rods and two shelves, all his stuff is just in one closet not two.
Once my "cave" was empty, I put in two pieces of wood (paint grade shelving from Lowe's) one 16" deep for the desktop and one 12" deep for the overhead shelf. The vertical shelving on the left side was a piece of furniture from my high school days that was previously used in the kids' nursery. I popped the top and bottom off and it is the perfect way to mimic a built-in!
Some caulk, paint, and accessories from around the house... I am very happy! Now if I have lots of places to store things, but if something should be out on my desk, I'll just close the closet doors. Problem solved!
If you're wondering, my file cabinet and shredder are tucked neatly under the desk on the left, and the computer tower and printer tucked away on the right. I love everything being out of the way and out of sight!
My mom cave is not dark as it appears, thanks camera...

Parks & Recreation

Easton is finally getting to play on our almost daily trips to the  park. I don't want him to eat sand so usually he is in the stroller or sitting with me on the swing and other play things (whatever the bouncy thing is called!) Now he enjoys swinging on his own! Blake likes to "climb and slide" as she calls it. And almost always brings Hazel... today she surprised me by not wanting to play at all, only push her brother! Sweet girl. Easton loved it, too!

Girly Girl

Blake always wants a purse and for it to be filled with goodies, chapstick, coin purse, necklace, all sorts of things... First thing after getting dressed this morning she declared she needed lipstick on! She rubbed her chapstick on with her finger and said "I look pretty!"

So Big

Are his shoes not the cutest thing??? My little boy is getting so big.

All Better

So glad this sweet little girl is all better! Blake decided she needed to wear her scarf so her neck "wouldn't get chilly" as she ate her ice cream with a tiny play spoon! She is 100% back to her silly self.

Blake-isms

Just wanted to remember some cute things Blake says (or said... some she's grown out of)
va-inna (vanilla)
oddo (yellow)
poddo (pillow)

Blake gets really sensitive and weepy when she's overly tired. I can smile and talk about it, because she gets it from me!!! The other day it was past her bedtime and she was crying and telling me "Captain Hook is so mean" (from watching Jake & the Neverland Pirates cartoon)

Momma's tupperware drawer!

Bye Bye

Look who started waving bye-bye (left handed no less)! He was waving to his new buddy Trey, one of Papa's roping buddies.

Uh-Oh

Look who can climb on the dishwasher now!
Not to be left out... Blake said "I wanna try it!" and climbed up too.

Happy Birthday Momma

My parents took me out to lunch for my birthday, and then we went to their house to hang out and let them help me with the kiddos. I was hurting pretty bad and was grateful for the help! In my opinion... the shingles pain is about the same as recovering from my c-section.
Blake helped Grandma make my birthday cake, and a little one for herself. She liked to taste the pudding (what she called the frosting!) but didn't want it on the cake. As we were talking about my birthday, she wanted to help me blow out the candles. She put them on the cake for me, too. Check this out.
24 individual candles, #4 candle (24 and 4 = 28) and then the clown candle (one to grow on). Didn't she do a good job!!? Made me smile.
It was delicious!!!

Happy Halloween

I really wanted Blake to experience trick-or-treating because this would be her first year to do it. We had big plans of going to her MDO church's Trunk or Treat and then go around our neighborhood. Judging by how healthy our house has been.... I decided we would just dress up real quick and do a couple houses on our street. Thankfully, Grandma came to help me since Tim was out of town. Here's how Easton felt about wearing his hood. So we left the hood down, and strapped into the stroller!
Blake wouldn't wear her red tights for her Elmo costume, so she wore black pants, and the Elmo headpiece didn't stay on past our driveway either. Oh well!
After a few houses, she really got pretty excited and was saying "trick or treat" loudly, knocking on doors by herself, and saying "thank you." Papa even came over by the end to watch her. She got a good bit of candy and enjoyed herself!
Grandma even made Hannah her own pumpkin costume (since Blake originally was going to be a pumpkin). Isn't that cute? So Hannah came trick-or-treating too.
