24 Weeks

We had our 24 week appointment today. It was just a normal check-up with a sonogram to check what we couldn't get last time. Everything checked out great and we got to see his face this time! He is 1 pound 11 ounces and is in the 89 percentile. He jumped from 41% to 89% in 4 weeks! The sonogram tech said he had a major growth spurt. His head measurements are exactly matching his gestational age, but his arm, leg and belly measurements are measuring a week older, or bigger. They said it is his length that makes him in such a high percentile.
It's hard to believe there are only a few months left til we meet Easton Ray Trevino!

Pumpkin Patch

The other day after school we went to visit the pumpkin patch. Blake loved touching the pumpkins, carrying them around, and looking at the other kids there.
"Up!" Bye Pumpkins!

Blake-isms

As of yesterday, Blake is 19 months old. She is talking more and more and is more energetic than ever! Sometimes it's hard for this momma to keep up, especially when I don't always feel great... (this pregnancy has been harder than Blake's. More nausea and lots of heartburn! But it's so worth it. I can't wait to see the little guy.)
  • Every morning when Blake wakes up, she asks for juice. Nine times out of ten, she picks orange over apple for the morning. Anytime Blake drinks juice, or water or milk or anything really, she savors it. She'll take a drink and then hold it in her mouth, swirling it around before swallowing it, and saying "mmmm."
  • Whenever Blake sees a dog she starts wagging her finger and saying "no no no no." She's met a few hyper dogs, Marley included, that like to jump up towards her, so she tells all dogs "no no."
  • When singing "The Wheels on the Bus" Blake always puts her finger on her nose and says "shh shhh," for the part about the parents on the bus shhhing the babies.
  • Blake smiles real big and says "bee!" for when you tell her to say please.
  • She loves feeding baby dolls or stuffed animals, or giving them a drink and making the slurp noise. Blake also likes to cover up the dolls with blankets and tell them to "ni-ni" (night-night) or carry them around in the blanket patting them on the back telling them to "shhhh-shhhh."
  • If Blake bumps her head or falls down or does anything to get a boo-boo, she starts making kiss noises and points to where she wants you to kiss to make it better.
  • Blake will tap repeatedly with her finger on a spot to tell you exactly where she wants you to be while saying your name
  • (I'll add as I think of more...)

It's a...

BOY!!! Today we went to the best appointment so far... sonogram day where we got to find out the sex of our baby. There is no doubt, it's 100% a boy. I was a little worried the baby wouldn't cooperate and be in the right position for us to tell, but he gave us about 5 great shots that are definitely showing his boy parts. Ha! Instead, the little guy would not show us his face! He was cuddled up and tucked head-down and wouldn't come up to say hi. So we get to go back in 4 weeks for another sonogram! They were able to get most measurements: 11 ounces, 41 percentile, and measuring at 20 weeks, 1 day (1 day ahead of actual age), so all is good. But they needed to check lips and nose, so another sonogram is needed.

My blood pressure today was 120/90, which I think was due to my excitement. I could hardly sit still as I waited for 3:00 to get here!!

I will post sonogram pictures later.

Hooky

Today Blake and I both had doctor appointments. Yesterday I woke up feeling bad so I took off Wednesday also. (Grandma and Poppa are in Philadelphia for a cousin's wedding, so it worked out pretty well timing wise.) It has been very nice being home even slightly under the weather...
At 18 months, Blake weighs 24 pounds, 8 ounces (55%) and is 34 inches tall (95%). She is meeting all milestones, and received 2 shots today (hepatitis a booster and flu shot). Usually she does well at the doctor's and doesn't cry until the shots, but today she wasn't happy being weighed, measured, having her ears or lungs checked or anything. In all fairness, the appointment was during her normal nap time!

At 18 weeks tomorrow, baby Trevino is doing well, too. My blood pressure was great today at 94/64 (Tim says due to my not being at school, ha!). Baby's heart rate was in the 150s, and we go back in 2 weeks to find out if our little one is a boy or girl!
I had to show how cute Blake looks today... Her hair is still a little wet in this picture from an early bath, but she let me fix it!! She ripped it out once after the picture-taking, but try #2 is still in tact.

A Year and a Half

I am the mom of an 18 month old.... WOW! It's hard to believe sometimes just how fast time flies when you're having fun. In just 5 months or so, Blake will be a big sister. When we talk about the new baby, she says "awwwww" and lays her head over (which is what she does to mean things are sweet or she loves them). I hope she always feels that way!
Blake is so much fun these days. She still loves to help around the house. If I need to empty the dishwasher, she hands me each dish one by one, and can even help put certain dishes in drawers that are low enough for her. She loves to help wipe off tables, or anything for that matter! She is a big helper around the house.
She also LOVES to ride horses. Blake gets to ride Gunsmoke, Poppa's teamroping horse, all the time. She is never ready to stop, I have to just say it's time to go. Then the bottom lip comes out and the pouting starts. I think she would ride for hours at a time! Anytime she sees Poppa with his spurs on, she demands to go to the barn too.
What a sweet girl! We get to go see how big she is at the pediatrician this Thursday, and also get to check on the newest Trevino for my 18 week appt.
