Fire truck

We had a surprise fire inspection yesterday by two very kind Lubbock firemen. They were checking our work neighborhood and I happened to be up there with the kids. I think Easton had a little hero worship going on, as he was stunned speechless at first. When they asked if the kids wanted to check out the fire truck, Blake was first to say yes and Easton followed, just smiling and reaching for my hand.
They got to climb inside, sit in the chairs and look around. Then they asked, or wondered aloud, if they could go on the roof. The fireman said yes!
The kids climbed up the back of the truck and walked all the way to the bucket at the front. It was so cool and they talked about it all day. Easton had the biggest smile all afternoon!

4th of July

We left Thursday to spend the weekend at Lake Cannonball (what Easton calls Lake Buchanan!) The lake is full and the weather was hot, so it was perfect to swim all weekend!
I didn't take any pictures at all, so obviously I fully enjoyed my time off!

We came back Sunday night and took part in our neighborhood parade today! We didn't even know there was such a thing, but it started in front of our next-door neighbor's so it was hard to miss. We jumped right in!

The kids were already in their 4th attire, but next time we'll have our bikes decorated like everyone else!

Then we went to the 4th on Broadway celebration in the 100 degree heat! The kids rode ponies, pet animals in the petting zoo, had their faces painted, did crafts and ate a corn dog and funnel cake. It was a fun-filled day!

Home Run

Easton hit his first home run tonight! He has been grinning so big and proud ever since (all of us really!) Blake and I were wildly cheering in the bleachers and Tim was grinning and cheering from the mound (he's the pitcher!)
He called all of his grandparents after the game to share his good news. He hit 2/2 tonight, hitting his home run to the fence! So exciting!

My cuties

Blake has recently lost her other top front tooth. Such a cute smile!
These two LOVE school and are so excited to go every day (especially Easton, who is counting down the days until he's a kindergartner).

Baseball

Easton is playing his first season of baseball and had his first game last night. He did great. He was nervous at bedtime for a couple nights leading up til game day, but was only excited on game day!
It is coach pitch, but Easton plays in the pitcher position, so he has lots of opportunities to get the ball. And he only struck out once (no tears though!) and had two or three great hits and scored a run! It was so fun to watch! And the Lake Monsters got their first win!
One of his best friends, Cooper, is on his team, so that makes it even better!
And just for fun, here's a baseball comparison of Tim and Easton. Grammy texted the picture over last night and I wanted to check them out side by side. How cute!

Palo Duro

Yesterday we went hiking at Palo Duro Canyon. We were all very excited to go, and are eager to go again. It was beautiful!
We brought the two big dogs, and Molly and Piper were worn out after our 3 mile hike! Definitely different terrain than we're used to!
Packed up and on the road to get there!

We packed snacks, lots of water, and a picnic lunch (but we just decided to eat in the car on the way home!)

Everyone did great, even with picking a "difficult trail." We stopped at the visitor center to get the kids booklets to fill out to earn their Junior Naturalist badges. They were very proud! It was a great day!
